I'm trying to setup our site so our clients can send promotional newsletters out of their accounts through the sendgrid API. One of the requirements is to be able to see their statistics for the newsletter their sent.
Is there a way to do that right now through the API? The optimal solution would be setup subuser for each client and send the newsletter with that subuser. But if there is another way to do that I'd like to know it.

I have the exact same situation pretty much. I'd love to know how you managed to integrate the api so your users could send their own newsletters. Can't find any info on this.
Have you looked into 'categories' yet? That may be useful where you can reference stats by the category name. -

The best way to do this is to use the normal Newsletter API calls, with the subuser's credentials.
If you're not using our newsletter app, you can also use the Web API with the subuser's credentials.
The Subuser API is for managing subusers, and all actions to be taken through the subuser account specifically (sending mail, pulling statistics) should be using regular Web API with the Subuser's credentials, since a subuser is it's own account for these aspects. -

Thanks that's what I was wondering, in the case of using the subuser, do they use their password as the api_key?

yes. At this time, api_key == password. We're working on multiple credentials, but not active at this time.
