Do categories scale?

My company is evaluating using SendGrid for a daily deal type email (e.g., one email sent to several thousand recipients). We'd like to track statistics individually per deal, so I'd expect we'd use a new category per daily deal. Is this the proper way to go about accomplishing this? After a year, we'd have close to 365 categories.
