Reading an email once registers as "open" twice
Hi.. first up.. SendGrid seems pretty damn cool. The problem I'm having though is that every time I read an email (Mail.app on Mac OS X) it appears as doubled entry in the 'opens' statistics.
Also, every time I open the same email it does this. Does this mean that one person going back and re-reading the same email will register as multiple "open" events - even without the doubling up this feels like it's going to skew the analytics.
Any advice appreciated.

Hi guys,
Thanks so much for your patience on this. As you know we send millions of emails that have multiple links in them. As such, building a scalable solution for this took time. I am happy to let you guys know that we will be making this feature available this week. This will be available for global stats, categories, and newsletters. You will also be able to retrieve this over our REST API. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the awesome feedback! That is a great question. Currently we count/log every time you open an email. The reason being is that some users forward the email to others and we want to be able to track those opens. It looks like we've found a solution to detect unique opens (even on forwards) based on a few parameters and we will be working on a solution to detect that. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Inappropriate?Ah.. and I guess I now know why every email is registering twice - once when viewed in the preview pane of the email list and second time when I actually open it.
Thanks for such a quick response Isaac

Inappropriate?Isaac, any timeline on when the enhancement you mentioned will go live? This could be a real problem for us with the way it works now.

Inappropriate?I've just been testing and get double counting as well. All I'm doing is reading mail as normal through gmail's browser interface, but my open counts are 2x the sends.
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?Any update on when this might be available? We'd really like to see unique open %.
-
Inappropriate?Come on guys, no word on this for 4 months? A progress update, or even just a note to say "We're still working on it" would be good. Otherwise folks are going to start looking elsewhere... The barrier to switching SMTP providers is not high...
I’m impatient

Inappropriate? This is super-important to us as well. We have discussed this feature at length - and were told that it was very close to being implemented a couple of months ago. Any progress at all?
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? We are also having a real issue with the open rates / clickthrough rates not displaying the unique count. it's a real issue because we can't accurately show the conversion funnel to our partners. We are very close to building our own system...any idea on when yours will be done?!
