What's the best practice for developing and testing email sends vs sending in production? Different account?

What's the best practice for developing and testing email sends vs sending in production? I'm thinking specifically about not skewing my statistics for low-volume emails. My best guess would be to create a different account to use for dev and save my production account for real emails that I want to track. Better idea?

Yeah I don't know what to do for that. I wish I had thought of that because I messed up my reputation by purposefully unsubscribing and bouncing to test the event hook.

Hello,

I would recommend sending out a very low amount of emails for your testing purposes. If you are sending a low volume of emails this shouldn't affect your reputation. Also when you do start sending out your real emails, your reputation will increase rapidly.

An API hook or a flag that you can pass in to prevent emails from really being sent would be great
